Where should I park?
Many parking meters are located around the Old Forester Distillery, and there are several parking garages nearby. Some nearby parking garages are located at the KFC Yum! Center (1 Arena Plaza), the 1st & Main Garage (100 E Main St), as well as East Washington Street Garage (131-299 E Washington St). Ridesharing services such as Uber and Lyft are available in the Louisville metro area. Please see an associate if you would like to coordinate a safe ride.

Are guests under the age of 21 allowed to visit?
Yes! Guests of all ages are allowed to attend, but children must be supervised by an adult, and only guests over 21 years old are allowed to participate in the optional tasting at the end of the tour. A government-issued photo ID is required to sample beverage alcohol.

Are purses, diaper bags, etc., allowed on tours?
Purses and bags are allowed at Old Forester Distillery and can be brought on tours. A limited number of lockers are available onsite if you want to store your belongings during your tour.

Can I engrave a bottle onsite?
Yes, bottles can be engraved onsite. There is an additional fee for engraving, and engraving is limited only to the bottles purchased in the Old Forester Distillery retail shop.

Can I take pictures while I’m on a tour at the Distillery?
Of course! Photography may be limited to certain areas of the tour experience, however. Professional photography may not be conducted without prior written permission.

Do you allow pets on tours?
We do not allow pets at the Old Forester Distillery. Service animals are permitted on tours.

How long do the tours last?
The Old Forester Distillery Tour is approximately 60 minutes and includes a tasting at the end.

If I purchase a bottle of Bourbon at the gift shop, can I have it shipped to me?
At this time, recent changes in legislation allow us to legally ship beverage alcohol to only a handful of U.S. states, and no international shipping from Old Forester Distillery is permitted. Please check with a retail associate for details on where bottles may be shipped legally.

Is the Old Forester Distillery ADA compliant?
Yes, the Old Forester Distillery offers an ADA-compliant touring experience for guests in wheelchairs.

Is there a dress code?
We recommend that guests wear closed-toe shoes for safety purposes, as the Old Forester Distillery is home to a fully-functioning distillery operation. Open-toe shoes are permitted, but not recommended.

May I stand in line and camp out the night before in hopes of getting a bottle in the gift shop?
The Old Forester Distillery and gift shop will not be open on September 2nd. Please note, there will be 24-hour on-site security, and all guests trying to form a line will be asked to disperse.

What is your smoking policy?
Old Forester Distillery is a non-smoking facility. No smoking, vaping, or e-cigarettes of any kind are permitted in and around Old Forester Distillery property. Louisville Metro maintains a smoking ordinance which prohibits smoking within 15 feet from the outside entrance of any building.

Why are tickets discounted on Sunday?
Old Forester Distillery is open for tours on Sundays, however production in our distillery will be suspended. For the full experience of our distillery operations including fermenting, distilling, aging, and bottling, we encourage guests to visit us between Tuesday and Saturday.

Why is the Distillery not open to the public?
The Old Forester Homeplace operation continues to be closed indefinitely due to COVID-19 (coronavirus). This includes the gift shop, George’s Bar and our tour/tasting experiences. Our goal is to minimize the risk to employees and guests and help lower the probability of the spread of the virus to our employees, their families and the communities where we operate. We are currently working with our Risk Management department and as we are able to develop experiences in accordance with established safety guidelines, we will make those experiences available for booking at oldforester.com.

Will there be a speciality tour or experience surrounding Birthday Bourbon this year?
Because the distillery is still closed indefinitely, there will be no specialty tour or experience offered on September 2nd. Can you ship alcohol?
While shipping alcohol is legal to certain states we do not allow the preorder or shipping of our limited release products like birthday bourbon.

Do you offer military discounts?
We currently offer a military discount of $4 off of the general admission price. Look for the “Veteran/Active Duty” option when booking your tour online. Proper identification is required at check-in. We also have reduced rate experiences for minors (ages 10-20) and seniors (65+).

How can I purchase a bottle of Old Forester Birthday Bourbon?
We encourage you to reach out to your local retailer. We do not allow pre-orders of our limited release products. Please do not call the distillery to order Birthday Bourbon.

How many bottles will be available for sale?
Birthday Bourbon is released every year on September 2nd. The Old Forester Distillery receives a limited amount of this highly anticipated expression. In addition to what the distillery receives, Birthday Bourbon is distributed nationally through our distribution partners. Once our distribution partners receive their allotment, they distribute those allotments within their regional markets.

How often do you have Distillery tours?
Tours begin every 15 minutes. Please arrive and check-in 15 minutes before your tour is scheduled to begin.
Tuesday through Thursday: 10:00 am – 6:00 p.m. The last distillery tour begins at 5:00 p.m.
Friday through Saturday: 10:00 am – 7:00 p.m. The last distillery tour begins at 6:00 p.m.
Sunday: 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Monday: Closed.All times are Eastern Time. Please note that the Old Forester Distillery is a fully functioning distillery operation. Tours may be delayed or the tour experience may be altered unexpectedly due to changes in planned distillery operations.

Is the Old Forester Distillery closed on holidays?
Closed on New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, Easter, September 9th and 10th, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve.
*In addition to these days OFDC will also be closed on the following dates in 2020 – January 21, April 14th, May 26, July 7 and 8, September 8 and 9
Annual Shutdown – Our annual production and homeplace shutdown traditionally occurs in the first two weeks of January. Please check our daily tour listing times for additional information. George’s Bar and the Old Forester Bottle and Gift Shop will have limited hours of operation during our shutdown.

What day is Old Forester Birthday Bourbon released?
Old Forester Birthday Bourbon is released every year on September 2nd in honor of our founder, George Garvin Brown’s birthday.

What is included in the Distillery Tour?
Your tour will comprise of a close interaction with the core areas of an active distillery. You will have the opportunity to see a running distillery operation, smell fermentation, maturation, charring, and toasting, touch finished barrels, hear real machinery at work in all areas of production, and guests of legal drinking age (21+) can finally taste fine, matured bourbon. Please note that production is fully operational from Tuesday to Saturday. Tours on Sunday will have access to view all elements of the Old Forester Distillery, but active production operations will not be underway.

What is your tour refund / cancellation policy?
A full refund will be provided for cancellations made at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled tour time. For cancellations made less than 24 hours prior to the start of the scheduled tour, no refund will be given. A full refund will be issued for large group bookings of 11 or more provided the cancellation is made at least 2 weeks prior to the scheduled tour. No refund will be awarded for cancellations made within 2 weeks of the scheduled activity.

What will I be tasting at the end of my tour?
Guests of legal drinking age (21+) are able to participate in an optional bourbon tasting as part of the tour experience. A unique offering of Old Forester expressions are offered in the tasting experience, and we encourage guests to sip responsibly if they choose to participate.
